My child has had an accident and his tooth has been knocked out. What do I do?

Put the tooth in a glass of cold milk, and contact us immediately. The age of your child will determine the treatment for the lost tooth. An older child may be able to have the tooth reattached, but a younger child will not, as it could pose a choking hazard.

How can I make my smile brighter?

We offer in-office and take-home teeth whitening for effective bleaching of dental stains and discolorations. Both methods are safe and effective and yield fantastic results. Come in for a consultation, and we'll help you determine the best whitening method for your smile.

What makes your practice different than any other I can visit?

Our doctors have more than 100 years of combined clinical experience in a wide range of dental procedures. In fact, Dr. Trebilcock is the only board-certified prosthodontist in the Columbus area. We've taken years of advanced continuing education courses in general dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, and restorative dentistry, and we continue to stay current with leading-edge dentistry. But the real difference is in our work. Our patients can tell you how satisfied they are with their new smiles, and how much their self-esteem has improved because they're no longer afraid or embarrassed to smile. We think they're the ones who can convince you better than we ever could. See our photo gallery for pictures of our work, then call to schedule your consultation.

My gums bleed after I brush. Is this something to be concerned about?

Yes! Bleeding gums may indicate periodontal (gum) disease. Approximately 80 percent of the people in the United States have some degree of periodontal disease. It can lead to loss of bone in the jaw and tooth loss, but may also contribute to other health problems, such as heart attacks and strokes. If you have bleeding gums, call us to schedule an appointment right away.

I really don't like visiting the dentist. Is there anything you can do to help me relax?

If you're fearful about visiting the dentist, please let us know. We have many ways to help patients relax, including IV sedation during dental procedures. Many patients find comfort in our friendly staff and soothing atmosphere. Gentle injections and experienced care go a long way toward setting our patients' minds at ease. Tell us how you feel so that we can help.

Crowns, veneers, onlays, inlays and partials...Where can I learn more about these options?

Our Patient Library is a great resource for learning about dental procedures. You can also review our Services pages for more information. If you have questions about these or other dental procedures, don't hesitate to call our Columbus dental office. We would be happy to explain any aspect of your dental care or our service offerings.

I brush every day, but my breath just isn't fresh. Is there anything I can do?

Millions of people struggle with halitosis, or bad breath, despite daily brushing. Here are some steps you can take to eliminate the problem:

  • Twice daily brushing
  • Daily flossing and tongue cleaning
  • Regular professional cleanings
  • Careful cleaning of dentures or removable dental appliances

If the problem persists, we offer several solutions. First, we can provide a plastic tool called a tongue scraper that removes bacterial buildup on your tongue and significantly deters odor. We may recommend a special rinse or toothpaste to break the odor-causing sulfur bonds that cause bad breath. If we suspect a systemic or internal problem, such as an infection or underlying health condition, we may recommend a visit with your family physician or a specialist to identify the cause. Call for an evaluation today.

My spouse snores and keeps me up at night. I've heard that a dentist might be able to prescribe an appliance that prevents snoring. Can you help?

Certainly. We offer the TAP appliance to open air passageways during slumber and prevent snoring. This oral appliance is easy to use, and we'll custom-fit it specifically for your mouth. If you or your spouse snores, we suggest visiting us for an evaluation.
